Tru-Balance - Wheel Balance Vibration and Pilot Hub Centering Solutions

Does your truck sound like a track machine after changing tires?

It’s most likely your egg-shaped tires. Yes, you heard me right, you can balance an egg, however it doesn’t roll down the road smoothly.

Tru-Balance Wheel Centering Products for Piloted Hub Wheels

  • Increase Fuel Mileage,
  • Increase Tire Life
  • Stops Tire Vibration
  • Stops Irregular Tire Wear
  • Reduces tire maintenance

Fuel and tires are the two biggest expenses in the trucking industry. TRU-BALANCE Wheel Centering Products were designed to eliminate tire vibration and erratic tire wear and help you cut your costs and keep the profit in your pocket.

We ship a Tru-Balance set with every Hunter HD Elite balancer to ensure that you are mounting your tires perfectly even if you have a worn pilot hub.

Perfect for:

  • Heavy Duty Trucks
  • Medium Duty Trucks
  • Commercial Buses
  • School Buses
  • Motor Coaches
  • Emergency Vehicles
  • Commercial Trailers

Here's how it works:

With hub-piloted wheels, the weight of the wheels rests on the top pilots creating a gap on the bottom pilots. A gap as small as the width of a business card creates an off-centering "egg-shaped" motion upon rotation. This uneven motion causes increased fuel consumption, uneven tire wear and tire vibration that balancing alone cannot correct.

Shaved or Damaged Hub Mounting Pilots

Hub mounting pilots can be easily damaged as a result of careless handling and/ or improper positioning of the brake drum and wheels during wheel-end assembly If one or more of the hub mounting pilots are damaged as shown in the photo below, the hub MUST be replaced immediately. Attempting to mount a drum and wheels on a hub with a damaged hub mounting pilot WILL cause the assembly not to seat properly and could result in a loose wheel-end assembly.

The patented line of TRU-BALANCE products was designed to bypass the hub-pilots and center the wheels back to the wheel studs which is the true center of the wheel. Once the wheels are properly centered, the result is increased tire life, increased fuel mileage and the smoothest ride possible, PERIOD!

Three Options

There are 3 options based on your application for Hub Piloted Wheels only.

  1. Reusable Mounting Tool - Steer and Drive Wheels and with most trailers.
  2. Internal Centering Sleeves – Steer wheels only
  3. Threaded sleeves that stay on permanently and not reusable.

How to get the information on your brake drum.

  1. Call your trucks manufacture
  2. Ask for the Parts Department
  3. Give them the last eight digits of your trucks VIN number
  4. Have them look for the line set ticket or build sheet
  5. Ask for the brand and part number of a steer brake drum
  6. Choose aluminum or steel wheels.
